Ark Floors is the North American arm of A&W Woods, one of the world’s largest wood flooring companies. Our global positioning requires a strong commitment sustainable forestry practices and our efforts have been recognized by some the world's most prestigious environmental organizations.

A&W was one of the lirst members of WWF/GFTN (Global Forest & Trade Network) and in 2006 received its Green Pass to the international timber and flooring market Chain of Custody Certification. A&W has been a guest speaker at the WWF’s “World Forest Environment Forum" receiving recognition for contributing to responsible forestry. And in 2010, A&W was one of only 500 international companies to sign the historic Copenhagen Communiqué, an initiative presented to the U.N. by key players in the international business community calling for an ambitious, robust and equitable global deal on climate change.

All of our hardwood products are finished with nine coats of PPG - a long-wearing, eco-friendly UV coating with Aluminum Oxide that is permeated into each plank. This low VOC coating keeps floors looking beautiful for years to come while assisting in preserving our natural environment.

Choosing Your Perfect Hardwood Floor

Ark offers two different hardwood flooring constructions, SOLID and ENGINEERED. Both are equally beautiful, and in most situations, equally long-lasting. We offer a 25-year residential warranty on both constructi0ns...

ENGINEERED CONSTRUCTION: durable surface is created using five layers of natural hardwood and “cross-grained" to each other then topped with a premium 2MM top layer of your chosen hardwood species and nine coats of our long-wearing, eco-friendly finish. Engineered floors are generally thinner than solid and can be sanded and refinished 1-2 times. Approximate length 1' - 4’ with an average length of 2.5’. This construction provides more placement options than solid flooring as it can be used on, above or below grade and on concrete slab. All of our engineered flooring products are Phase 2 CARB compliant.

SOLID CONSTRUCTION: This is just what it sounds like. Each plank is a single 3/4" thick, solid piece of your chosen species of wood, topped with multiple layers of our long-wearing, eco-friendly finish. Solid construction can be sanded and reiinished multiple times if necessary and for this reason is often the preferred choice of homeowners particularly worried about long—term damage to their flooring. Approximate length 1' to 6' with an average length of 2.5'. This construction can be used on or above grade.
